Rates of lateral growth likewise are low at the outset, increasing after a few weeks and then diminishing. HAVRE, Le.
HAVRE DE GRACE, hav'ar da gras, a city in northeastern Maryland, in Harford county, is on the Susquehanna River, near its mouth in Chesapeake Bay, 33 miles (53 km) northeast of Baltimore.
From 1852 onward the yield of the goldfields declined rapidly. However, this was offset by the rise of agriculture and industry, and the city's growth continued. On the downtown streets substantial structures of stone or brick replaced the earlier wooden buildings, warehouses and factories rose in the industrial district to the south, and acres of residences spread over the sides and crests of the surrounding hills.
