Small Baby: In the wild, map turtles feed on small baby water snails, baby crayfish, aquatic insects, small baby fish, some carrion, and some plant life. Give small baby water snails, aquatic insects, baby top minnows, small baby earthworms, and fresh, green lettuce.
CHILDBIRTH is the process by which a baby is expelled from the uterus, or womb, through the vagina to the outside world. Normally, a baby is born about 38 weeks (266 days) after it is conceived. In some cases, however, the baby may be born after only 26 weeks, and in others it may taJce as long as 41 weeks. Generally, if a baby is born before 35 weeks after conception, it is considered to be premature.
In addition to commercial use of the skins, there was formerly a busy trade in the sale of baby alligators for so-called pets for children. The ruthless capture and sale of these small baby creatures naturally reduced the number of adults to the point where they were approaching extinction. It became necessary to protect them by law, and no more of the native young of the United States species can now be sold commercially. However, so-called baby alligators are still sold, especially in Florida, but they are baby caimans, which are a species of crocodile native to South America that are imported for sale here.
