Offer Small Strips: All adult amphibians are carnivorous; in the wild, eat only live food. In captivity, give as much natural food as possible.
Feed on insects, worms, leeches, tiny mollusks and crustaceans, young amphibians, and frogs' eggs. Mole salamanders—Feed live earthworms; in addition, offer small strips of raw meat moved about as though alive. Newts—Give small pieces of meat; crumbs of canned dog food. Efts—Give live insects. Woodland salamanders—Give tubifex worms purchased at tropical fish shop.
Bamboo Blinds are available in various styles. An expensive but formal type is made of very thin strips of bamboo bound closely together. Others more informal in character are made of wider strips, either from the outside or the inside bark; the former presents an irregular, varied surface in both the color of the strips and their width; the latter is more standard in these respects. Bamboo Blinds are available in widths up to 10 feet.
For modern rooms vertical Blinds are available in a wide range of colors. They are made of rayon strips stretched on vertical louvre-type frames and operated by a single control rod, in much the same manner as horizontal Venetian blinds. The strips are removable for laundering, and may be rehung on the frames while still damp. Since the fabric is translucent, these Blinds cut down glare without shutting out light entirely. Strips are also made of plastic for nurseries, kitchens, and bathrooms.
