Nursery Teacher:

Nursery Teacher Tricia David has worked as a teacher and headteacher in nursery teacher and primary schools, as a researcher, community educator, playgroup tutor, and teacher trainer. She is now a Professor of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University College, with particular reference to the early years. Tricia is currently chairing the Kent nursery teacher Partnership Training Subgroup and finds this exciting multi-professional mix contributes to her own reflection and development, as part of an international network of researchers in the early years field.

Angela Jefferis, a nursery teacher class teacher, piloted a PACT scheme in which parents read to their children, and this is now part of her weekly routine.Phil Gryce helped a comprehensive school to develop a PACT scheme for first-year children while working as a special needs support teacher.

Eleanor had visited her class on three occasions during the Summer term. She had met her teacher, NNEB nursery teacher nurse, other members of her class and had explored her classroom. The teacher had noted that Eleanor played alongside other children, that she had a good concentration span, enjoyed stories and had a good singing voice. Preschool records were with the parents and to be handed over at the beginning of the Autumn term. Eleanor and her parents had a meeting with the teacher in the week before she started school. During this meeting Eleanor was able to confidently talk about the pictures she had drawn and the picture sequencing she had done.
