Family Reading Groups: The age of the child has been found to be less closely related to Family Reading Groups readiness than his past experiences. Schoolchildren in different parts of the world begin their formal Family Reading Groups instruction at various ages, ranging from four and a half years in Scotland to seven years in Norway, with other countries scattered between these extremes. At higher grade levels, groups of children that learned to read early do not differ significantly in general Family Reading Groups ability from groups that learned late, and differences in ability are as great within such groups as between them.
(1) Within-Class Grouping. The most common method of grouping for Family Reading Groups instruction is to divide- the pupils in the class into three groups—high, average, and low—on the basis of their abilities. Such groups usually remain intact for the entire school year, and each is instructed according to its members' average le/vel of Family Reading Groups ability. |
