Made The Young Spaniard:

Made The Young Spaniard Even before Picasso, other artists had shown some interest in ,,primitive" art, but they never used it with the same frankness and lack of constraint. When Henri Matisse and Andre Derain were showing their nude paintings at the "Salon des Independents", they made the young Spaniard feel ambitious. But they both reacted to his painting with unreserved horror.

Gestation takes 16 days; 7-15 in litter; young born pink, naked, and blind. Do not disturb young or mother for at least a week after birth; if disturbed mother will either kill and eat the young or neglect them and allow them to die. After 3 weeks, remove young from mother; otherwise, mother fights with them and often kills them. Sexes should be separated before young reach maturity at 43 days.

The chapters in the final section of this book consider spiritual and religious education of young children; young children as citizens and the ways in which different societies' expectations of children impact on the children themselves and the kind of early education made available to them. It is in the final chapter, by Sacha Powell and I, that readers are urged to reflect on the implications of children's place in society and how educators contribute to the upbringing of the young learners who will manage that society in the twenty-first century.
